"If religious books are not widely circulated among the masses in this country, I do not know what is going to become of us as a nation. If truth be not diffused, then error will be. If God and His Word are not known and received, the devil and his works will gain the ascendancy. If the evangelical volume does not reach every hamlet, the pages of a corrupt and licentious literature will. If the power of the gospel is not felt throughout the length and breadth of this land, anarchy and misrule, degradation and misery, corruption and darkness will reign without mitigation or end."—Daniel Webster

The Broken Home: Lessons in Sorrow

B. M. Palmer

Introduced by Glen C. Knecht.

His life was not long, but his legacy remains more than a century after his death.  Charles Haddon Spurgeon, one of the best-known preachers of all time, died in 1892 at the age of fifty-seven after shepherding huge congregations in England and leaving extensive writings to posterity.

Though he was known as a great orator, Spurgeon's words also have tremendous poser on the printed page.  More than sixty volumes of his sermons were published in book form between 1855 and 1917, and Spurgeon penned other books, as well, including the popular devotional Morning & Evening.

This book, The Treasures of Charles Spurgeon, contains gems of truth drawn from Spurgeon's many works, each organized by topic and accompanied by a relevant Bible verse.  You'll find your heart stirred by the godly passion of Charles Spurgeon, and your thoughts drawn to the Lord he loved and served.
